You don’t have to work your way to heaven, in fact, you can’t.
Titus 3:5 (KJV)
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, ….
Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works,….
Jesus did all the work for us. What work did He need to do for us?
First He needed to live a perfect, sinless life,
Hebrews 4:15 (KJV)
…..(Jesus) was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
1 Peter 2:22 (KJV)
Who (Jesus) did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
Jesus then needed to die in our place and take the punishment for our sins.
He was able to do this since He had no sins of His own to die for.
You see, we all are sinners and because God is a righteous judge all sin must be punished.
1 Peter 2:24 (KJV)
Who his own self (Jesus) bare our sins in his own body on the tree (cross)….
Hebrews 9:28 (KJV)
So Christ was once offered (put to death on the cross) to bear the sins of many;….
1 Corinthians 15:3 (KJV)
….Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
Romans 5:8 (KJV)
But God commendeth (showed) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Does this mean that everyone will go to heaven automatically, since He did die for everyone? No!
1 John 5:12 (KJV)
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
Revelation 20:15 (KJV)
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Only those who believe on Jesus will have eternal life. This is not just a belief of knowledge but a belief of trust like when we trust an elevator and we put our trust in it by getting on. We must trust and depend 100% on Jesus’ death on the cross for our salvation.
John 3:16 (KJV)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:18 (KJV)
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:36 (KJV)
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
John 1:12 (KJV)
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
How do we show God that we believe? You call out to Him in prayer and let Him know that you are turning away from your sin (repenting) and you want His sacrifice on the cross to count for your sins.
Romans 10:9 (KJV)
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Romans 10:13 (KJV)
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Acts 2:21 (KJV)
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
So there you have it! You now know the greatest news there is. Now it is up to you what you are going to do with it. Are you going to BELIEVE and call out to Him, OR NOT BELIEVE?
